The bible gives us some very specific clues. The first clue is that NOBODY, not even Jesus himself knows..only the father knows. This is usable data because you can rule out all the whackos who sell their earthly property and congregate together in some location to wait for the end. There have been numerous groups in this category, all of which have had to return to normal life in embarrassment. There was no call for this because reading their bible and understanding it would have prevented such a disaster.
God is the only one who knows and he has given us enough clues to keep us on track, but we won't receive those clues by listing to the rabble around us. Only the bible will tell us. Now a word about that source. Most people read the KJV (King James Version). That's strange because it was written during the reign of King James as Prose (Poetry) Poetry is beautiful to read but not easy to understand. The old timer's love to quote you one of their favorite passages, then smile with pride for having done so. That's great..BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN? If you like poetry, KJV is great. But if you want to understand the word of God, you must read a translation which speaks in modern English using the terms of today. The NLT (New Living Translation) is a good one.
Next you must accept that the bible was written by mortal men. No women..Just men. Why do I mention that? Because it's important that you understand what it means. First, the words of Christ, for example..were recorded from memory some 40 years after Christ died. Religious fanatics will argue that every word of the bible is absolute true. Oh! I think you would agree that when 2 people contradict each other, it must tell us that both can't be true. The bible has contradictions. You don't believe it? Try this:
Mark 10:35 says that the two brothers, James and John asked Jesus to grant them the privilege of sitting one on his right side and the other on his left in Heaven:
Matt: 20:20 says that it was their mother who asked this favor of Jesus..Which is it? I'm sure that both are not true. For example if the mother had asked first, then the brothers asked the same question, Jesus would have said, "Your mother just tried that same trick"!
Now about clues concerning the end time. There are several. In Matt 24 (Often called "Little Revelation"), his disciples asked him to tell them about the end. Rather than quote you meaningless exact words of the KJV, I'll summarize. Jesus talks about things which will take place, then he says, the jews will be trodden down for the period of the Gentiles (That's us), but that when that period is over, this generation will not pass before all is fulfilled. What Generation? The generation which saw the end of the jews being trodden down by the Gentiles! When did that happen? April 15 1948 when Ben Gurion declared the creation of the Nation of Israel. The only sovereign country in history to be created in a single day.
My step-daughter was born in 1948. She is 62 now. If she is to see the end, I think you would agree that it can't be far away.
You want some proof of all this? Proof varies in the eye of the beholder. But if you want a clue which is easily understood..watch this situation.
ISRAEL WILL NEVER AGAIN BE PUT DOWN. THERE IS NO POWER ON EARTH WHICH CAN TAKE AWAY THEIR LAND OR DEFEAT THEM. You will see them besieged from all sides by powerful enemies but they will not fall. Right down to that last battle which we refer to as "ARMAGEDDON". So-named because the armies consisting of Russia, China, and the Muslim world..200 thousand of them, will stage outside Jerusalem in a place called the "PLAINS OF MEGIDO". That army will be wiped out when Christ himself descends to the Mt of Olives. Bible says "Their eyes will melt in their sockets, and their tongues will melt in their mouths before they can fall to the ground. Sounds Nuclear to me.
